About Cookies

Cookies were originally designed to help a Web site distinguish a user's browser as a previous visitor and thus save and remember any preferences that may have been set while the user was browsing the site. A cookie is a small string of text that a Web site can send to your browser. A cookie cannot retrieve any other data from your hard drive, pass on computer viruses, or capture your E-mail address. Currently, Web sites use cookies to enhance the user's visit; in general, cookies can securely store a user's ID and password, personalize home pages, identify which parts of a site have been visited or keep track of selections in a "shopping cart."

If you are just browsing davlersports.com, a cookie identifies only your browser. If you become a registered user on an Davler Sports Web site (with a designated user ID and password), we use cookies so that we can provide customized information that we believe will be of value to you based on preferences indicated, other information we have about you as an Davler customer, as well as information available from external sources such as the census bureau. It is possible to set your browser to inform you when a cookie is being placed -- this way, you have the opportunity to decide whether to accept the cookie. If you are just browsing our site and are not a registered user, you do not have to accept a cookie and you may still continue utilizing the site. However, if you are visiting a site where you will be accessing your confidential account information (such as Checking Your Bill), you must accept that site's cookies as they are essential for site administration and security. By accepting a cookie, keep in mind that your choice to decline E-mail offers remains unaffected. Here is how to set your cookie preferences:

Netscape Navigator 4: Select Preferences from the Edit menu. From the Preferences menu, select Advanced, and several options for cookies will be listed in the lower right of the menu. Additionally, you may select Help for more details. For further information about the Netscape browser and use of cookies, visit Netscape's Web site.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4: Select Options from the View menu. Choose the Advanced menu and scroll to the section labeled "Cookies," where several options are listed. For further information about the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser and use of cookies, visit Microsoft's Web site.

AOL:If you are using AOL v3.0 for Windows 95: Select Preferences from the Members menu. Click on the WWW icon and select Advanced. Modify your preference if you wish to be warned before accepting cookies.

If you are using the following AOL browsers, you will not be able to set cookie preferences since these browsers automatically accept cookies:

  • AOL v3.0 for Windows 3.0, using AOL's proprietary browser or AOL's version of Microsoft Internet Explorer v3.0;
  • AOL for the MAC, using AOL's version of Microsoft Internet Explorer 2.1.

All other earlier versions of AOL browsers do not support cookies, and therefore cannot authenticate you as a registered user on Davler Sports Web sites that involve sending or receiving personal account information.

Customer Internet Privacy Statement

Protecting your privacy is important to us. We hope the following statement will help you understand how Davler Sports, Inc. collects, uses and safeguards the personal information you provide to us on our Web site.

Security

Davler Sports, Inc. realizes how important security is to you, so we’ve taken a number of steps to enhance the safety and confidentiality of personal information sent to or from Davler Sports, Inc. over the Internet, including Card account information.

In particular, we require that a “secure session” first be established, using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. This is done anytime you supply or access Card account information in one of our secure online areas, such as Check Your Bill, Card applications, and Customer Service areas.

Simply put, SSL technology creates a private conversation that only your computer and Davler Sports, Inc. systems can understand. The SSL technology secretly encodes information as it is being sent over the Internet between your computer and Davler Sports, Inc. systems, helping to ensure that the information remains confidential. The use of SSL requires two components: an SSL-compatible browser and a Web server to perform the “key-exchange” that establishes an SSL connection to Davler Sports, Inc. Web server systems.

To benefit from SSL technology, you will need a browser with SSL capabilities. Examples of SSL browsers include Netscape 2.0, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 2.0, and the Web browser for America Online version 3.0 for Windows. (Note that some older versions of browsers will not support SSL sessions). If you don’t already have a browser with SSL capabilities, you can download an SSL browser from any of the links below.

Davler Sports, Inc. believes strongly that we have a responsibility to protect your confidential information to the best of our abilities. In order to securely access your Card account information (or Membership Rewards information or register for online services) via the Internet, we recommend you use the latest browser versions available. Access with Netscape versions before 1.12 (Mac or Unix) or 1.22 (Windows) is prohibited due to security concerns.

Nearly all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) automatically enable the SSL session described above, as do most online services such as America Online, CompuServe, and Prodigy. If you use your company’s internal connection to access the Internet and you find you cannot access Davler Sports, Inc.’ secure pages with an SSL browser described above, your company may be blocking access via a “firewall.” Please speak to your firm’s Internet access systems administrator for further details on your network’s Internet access.

In addition, many areas require the use of an ID and password as an additional security measure that helps protect your confidential information. This lets Davler Sports, Inc. verify exactly who you are, thereby allowing you access to your account information, and helping prevent unauthorized access

When you have finished using a secure area of Davler Sports, Inc. Online Services (e.g., View Billing Details), make sure you always click on the red “Exit Secure Area” link which appears on the left hand side of every secure page. When you click on it, you will be given the option to end your secure session. No further secure transactions can be conducted without re-entering your User ID and password.

You should be aware that browser software often “caches” pages as you look at them, meaning that some pages are saved in your computer’s temporary memory. Therefore, you may find that clicking on your “Back” button shows you a saved version of a previously viewed page. Please keep in mind that caching in no way affects the security of your confidential User ID or password. If you use a computer in a public place to access your account information, please quit/exit the browser software before leaving. This will decrease the possibility of anyone else viewing your confidential information. No other users will be able to access your Card account information online without your User ID and password.

Please note: If you have chosen to disable cookies on your browser, you will not be able to access confidential information. This is because we use cookies to securely store your User ID and password in order to recognize you when you return to the site. Please read About Cookies to learn more.

Other Companies
In order to bring you the many products and services offered by Davler Sports, Inc., we work with carefully selected business partners and vendors. If we have to share any information with these companies in order to provide the product or service, we first conduct a careful evaluation of their information and security systems and practices, and require administrative, technical and physical safeguards to ensure the security and confidentiality of Davler Sports, Inc. customer information. At any time, we may audit our partners and vendors to verify the continued security of their systems and practices.

Third-Party Advertisement Servers
We hire other companies to place our banner ads on other Web sites and to perform the tracking and reporting activities described above ("third-party advertisement servers"). They do not collect personally identifiable information in doing this work for us, and we do not give any personally identifiable information to them. Use of third-party advertisement servers' tracking technologies is subject to their own privacy policies. If you would like more information about the privacy policies of these third-party service providers, including information on how to opt out of their tracking methods, please click here to visit the Network Advertising Initiative Website.

Information Collection

When you browse davlersports.com and have not registered for any online service from Davler Sports, Inc., you browse anonymously. Personal information -- such as your name, address, phone number or E-mail address -- is not collected as you browse. Davler Sports, Inc. does, however, use "cookies" to collect information about how our site is used. Information, such as the server your computer is logged onto, your browser type (for example, Netscape or Internet Explorer), and whether you responded to an Davler Sports, Inc. banner ad or E-mail is collected and tracked in aggregate. This information is used for the purpose of measuring response rates to banner ads and e-mail offers.

Clear Gifs (sometimes called “Web bugs”)
Some Web pages contain electronic images sometimes called “clear Gifs,” “Web bugs,” or “Web beacons,” that allow us to count user visits to that page from banner ads or email offers. For example, a visit to davlersports.com from a banner ad on another Web site will be recognized, in order to understand the effectiveness of the banner ad. No personally identifiable information is captured in this process.

A similar tool, sometimes called a “spotlight tag,” is sometimes used on Web pages where transactions take place—for example, a page on our shopping cart  where a purchase is made. Here, the tag can collect numeric information, such as the dollar amount spent, to help us understand usage of the site. But again, no personally identifiable information is collected.

Registration for Online Products and services. In order to provide you with a particular product or service online, we may request that you voluntarily supply us with personal information, including your E-mail address and account number (if you are an Davler Sports, Inc. customer for example), for purposes such as correspondence, site registration, checking your bill online, making a purchase, or participating in online surveys and enabling us to provide an online product or service to you in an efficient manner.

If you are known to us as a registered user of an Davler Sports, Inc. online service, we may combine information about your use of davlersports.com and the online product or service you utilize with certain other online and offline information we have about you as an Davler Sports, Inc. customer and information you have provided to us as well as information available from external sources, such as census bureau data, in order to customize your online experience and present you with relevant online and offline offers and updates. We also use a "cookie" to enable our server to recognize you as a registered Davler Sports, Inc. online service user when you re-enter our site. If you would like to learn more about cookies, please read About Cookies for more information.

You should be aware that other Internet sites to which you link from davlersports.com may contain privacy provisions that differ from the provisions of our Privacy Statement.

We may use information you have given us to, for example, provide a service, ensure proper billing, measure consumer interest in our various services and inform you about products and services. If you have provided your E-mail address to us or to a company we’ve partnered with to make their products and services available to you, we may send you E-mail offers. We may also send you E-mail offers if you have provided your E-mail address to a third party and have actively chosen or requested, on an opt-in basis, to receive E-mail offers from other parties. These offers may be based on information you provided in your initial transaction with us, in surveys, from information that may indicate purchasing preferences and lifestyle, as well as information available from external sources, such as census bureau data. These E-mail offers come directly from Davler Sports, Inc.. You can opt out from receiving E-mail offers from Davler Sports, Inc. as described below in the section, "Declining E-mail Offers".

When we send E-mails to you, we may be able to identify information about your e-mail address, such as whether you can read graphic-rich html e-mails. If your e-mail address is html-enabled, we may choose to send you graphic-rich html e-mails.

Please note that we do not provide your E-mail address to our business partners. However, we may send you offers on behalf of our business partners. Keep in mind that if you take advantage of an offer from an Davler Sports, Inc. business partner and become their customer, they may independently wish to send offers to you. In this case, you will need to inform them separately if you wish to decline receiving future offers from them.

Our goal is to deliver offers to people who we believe will find them of value. Offers are developed and managed under strict conditions designed to safeguard the security and privacy of customer personal information.
